I can't believe how long it's been since I was here last. What have I been doing? Freezing, been really cold in my part of the country. Wild snow in the mountains and my husband travels the passes all week. I think I've been kinda busy, hooked up to high speed, bought a different car, sewing like crazy in my spare time. Enjoying my soaps. My favorite changes every other week. Luv Gloria and her sons on Y&R. I'm also a big fan of Martha Stewart, tried several new recipes from her show lately, they've been good. If the writers strike doesn't end soon I'm going to have to pick another soap. Went to a site today it was great freerice.com give it a try help feed the hungry. Speaking of the hungry guess it is time to stsrt our dinner. Best wishes for warmer days than I'm having.

Hey all!

I haven't been around for a while. Our weather here was really nice for a short while but the last few weeks it hasn't been overly hot and fairly windy every day. Kind of an odd August. Not so great for swimming.

We have a garden and today my husband and I made a batch of dill pickles. We had also bought three boxes of peaches over the weekend and we canned some of those today. Some of them aren't ripe enough so I'm sure there is more peach canning for us in the near future. We also have tomatoes comimg out of the garden and we always can a lot of those. We love tomatoes throughout the winter, for making tomato juice and soup. I don't think a lot of people can anymore. I don't love the process of canning but I really like the end product--having all that good stuff through the winter. Luckily for me, my husband helps me do all the canning, it's difficult for me to lift the hot jar rack our of the scorching hot canner, so he does come in handy! We have entered our canning products in our annual local fair and we have won several ribbons. That's always kind of exciting.

I got the old pool going, still waiting for the water to warm beyond 70, have high hopes for today. Have to go shopping, dragging my heels on that one. Hate shopping, to bad I like to eat so well, kinda funny like that. And my husband actually likes to have a lunch when he's working. Been so hot here don't want to leave the house. Ok gotta complete the mission, the faster I do my shopping the faster I can hit the pool. I have great faith in the solar cover we bought. Hope you're having good weather wherever you are.

Hey everybody happy safe 4th! I think it's going to be a hot one here in the NW my thermometer already says 90. We have one of those quick set pools and I think I messed up by not getting it put up yet. But I do believe today is the day. It takes the water a while to warm up, so if anyone has any tips to speed the process I would be happy about that. Quick sets are cool when you live in an area like mine. They go up and down so fast I guess my summer season is actually kinda short. Not doing much for the 4th, just need to kick back and not necessarily with a crowd. Crowds are ok, but not today. When I first decided I wanted to try a blog I felt I had a lot of time on my hands, and now it's almost like I feel I don't have enough time, where am I going wrong? Ok I guess I should go sweep the patio and get started on my pool or I'll melt later in the sun.
